Any blank spaces in Owenn's summer schedule have been filled up—by his pal Taylor Swift.
After dancing alongside the Grammy winner for years—and co-starring in her "Lover" music video—Owenn received an enchanting invitation: to open for T.Swift as a singer on The Eras Tour.
"It's been amazing, honestly, it's kind of surreal," Owenn exclusively told E! News in a recent interview. "My first show was just at MetLife and at soundcheck I had a moment, a pinch me moment. I was like, 'Am I really actually on a stadium stage at MetLife?' I'm from New York City so it's close to home."
It was years earlier, while on tour with Taylor for her albums 1989 and reputation, that Owenn started getting the ultimate guide to performing.
"The real advice is actually being in the atmosphere and watching," he shared with E!. "And I've been working with Taylor for such a long time now, since 2015, so just being in her presence and watching her work is the best advice."
On June 16, Owenn dropped his new single "Dark Side of the Moon," which marks a new era in his own career.
"I'm pretty much always talking about love," he noted. "It's about that different side of what your partner sees that no one else sees. And just all the stuff that comes with a relationship—the love, the passion….It's kind of like the new Owenn sound that I'm kind of crossing over into. So I'm excited."
It's a shift in direction that he's welcoming with open arms.
"It's a lot of change right now in my career," he said. "So many good things but also kind of scary, in a good way."
In fact, another major milestone is on the way. Owenn will be opening for Taylor until August, when The Eras Tour hits Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium.
"When they told me that she wanted me to open up in L.A. I was honestly just like, 'Please pinch me,'" he recalled. "Insane. So exciting."
And if Owen finds himself getting any nervous butterflies before stepping out onto the stage—he can come back to one important fact.
"Knowing that if [Taylor] didn't believe in me like she did I wouldn't be on that stage," he told E! News. "That's like the ultimate co-sign from her just being one of the biggest artists in the world but also somebody who knows business and knows her music. So just being on that stage and being chosen by her specifically is just a crazy co-sign and a crazy thing in itself…the ultimate stamp."
In addition to Taylor's support, Owenn is also feeling the love from her fans.
"It's been so nice, Swifties are really, really sweet," he said. "They've always really supported me and have always rooted for me. I actually thank them in my show. It's nice to be able to perform for them."
